I'm using MS Project Professional bit. I have a small project that I need to print for a College Presentation. When I go to print it, it takes about 12 pages to print it, since the boxes are considerably big on the pages. Thadeu Chedid Afonso. There are a few things you can do but keep in mind that if you reduce the diagram too much, it may not be readable.

First, you can reduce the spacing between boxes. Adjust the row and column spacing. Fourth, consider collapsing the outline to only show summary tasks, or perhaps collapse select summaries. Did this solve your problem? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. April 14, Keep in touch and stay productive with Teams and Officeeven when you're working remotely.

A good network diagram will be a clear and concise graphic representation of a project.

There are two types of network diagrams: The Arrow Diagram and the Precedence diagram. The arrow diagram depicts nodes for events and arrows for activities. The precedence diagram depicts activities in the order they occur. If you work in IT you will most likely use the arrow diagram, depicted above. These event nodes refer to an instant when an activity is started or completed. An event node occurs only when all activities entering the node have been completed.

The arrow represents the activity that takes place during the event. Using the arrow and node method, you can depict project dependencies. Dummy arrows have no duration. They do not depict an activity. Instead, they transfer logic from one event node to another. Once the project is mapped out, you can write a key for the visual representation, listing the duration of events and activities. The network diagram will provide you and your project team with a full visual representation of your project.

Network diagrams are used whenever project management occurs. Because these project management tools are so useful, they can help project management teams to visualize the planning they have put time and effort into. The diagram gives a quick-glance view of the project. It also demonstrates who is responsible for which tasks.

The precedence diagram can show relationships between nodes. Privacy Policy. The Network Diagram functionality allows a visual representation of the project plan.

It represents tasks and task dependencies. A box also called a node represents each task, and a line connecting two boxes represents the dependency between two tasks. In the Network Diagram view you can expand or collapse the network diagram to the level you want to see, by showing and hiding the subtasks of summary tasks.

The Network Diagram view can use any of the task filters to display only the tasks you want to see. When you select a filter, the Network Diagram view displays the information as defined by that filter's criteria. The default filter is the All Tasks filter. Then, go to menu File — Print — Page Setup and make the desired changes.

In Network Diagram view, you can zoom out to a bigger picture of your project's tasks by displaying at a higher level the sequencing of boxes corresponding and the links between them, or you can zoom in to see in more detail the boxes corresponding to your project's tasks.

Additionally you can choose a custom value for the zoom level. To set a view by default, the Editor needs to save the file with that specific view being opened. What does the diagonal line from the Network Diagram boxes mean?

The diagonal line from the Network Diagram boxes represent the tasks that are in progress. The crossed diagonal lines from the boxes represent the tasks that are completed. This utilizes a tremendous amount of paper and ink.

Surely there is a better, less wasteful way of doing this. All ideas welcome. Network Diagram Printing in Project Hi, I have a large project that I would like to print in a network diagram view. My ideal layout is landscape, 36" high and 60" long I am using an HP design jet printer. Is there any way I can ask Project to reflow the network into the dimensions that I prefer?

I select it, and then select Create. The center of this network is a server. Now I can connect new shapes as I add them, and see all the available connection points as I connect existing shapes. I go to Homeselect Connectorand draw a line from the server to the switch. Our office has a shared printer, copier, and fax machine, so I drag those shapes onto my diagram.

The boxes on the Descriptive Network Diagram view are larger and can contain labels for the data elements in the box. These larger boxes take up more space, and thus fewer boxes fit on a printed page. The Network Diagram view displays tasks and task dependencies in a network or flowchart format. A box sometimes called a node represents each task, and a line connecting two boxes represents the dependency between the two tasks. It is possible to create a new project in the Network diagram or modify an existing project by adding and linking tasks.

A Network box consists of five fields, as illustrated below. The Task Name field is white because it is currently ready for user input. Note: By default, the network diagram shows critical tasks in red and displays one diagonal line through a task that is in progress and crossed diagonal lines through a completed task. Depending on the structure of your project, the number of summary tasks and subtasks and the number and types of task links, the Network Diagram boxes may not be arranged as you expected.

You can modify the layout by applying different box arrangements, adjusting various layout parameters, and applying one of two different link styles:. Note : If you can't arrange Network Diagram boxes the way you want, you may want to position them manually: Click Allow manual box positioning, click OK, and then drag the boxes to the location you want. If you have many tasks that are linked to a predecessor or task, the link lines can overlap and be difficult to read in the Network Diagram view.

You can change the style of the link lines and arrange them how you want. You can also display task dependency labels on the link lines. A combination view contains two views. The view in the bottom pane shows detailed information about the tasks or resources you select in the view in the top pane.

For example, you can have the Gantt Chart view in the top pane and the Task Form view in the bottom pane. When you select a task in the upper view, the Task Form view displays detailed information about that task.

The same applies to Network Diagrams. In the illustration below the selected task is shown in detail in the lower pane where the Task Usage view is displayed:.
